Sheldon Weekly Update

Posted Date: 11/18/24 (9:39 AM)

Dear Parents and Students,

Wow, it’s hard to believe we’re already 10 weeks into the school year! Time is flying by, and I’m excited to share some updates about Parent-Teacher Conferences and a friendly reminder about our Electronics Policy, which has been helping to create a focused and positive learning environment here at Sheldon High School.

🌟 Parent-Teacher Conferences

We’re looking forward to connecting with you during our Parent-Teacher Conferences on Monday, November 25, and Tuesday, November 26. These meetings provide a wonderful chance to chat with your student’s teachers and discuss their progress so far this year.

Since this is the short week before Thanksgiving, we won’t be holding regular classes. Instead, we’ll dedicate the time to conferences. Attendance isn’t mandatory, but we encourage you to join, especially if your student needs extra support in a class. Teachers may also reach out to families to recommend participation.

📅 Conference Schedule:

Monday, November 25, 2024:

  • 10:00 AM–12:00 PM

  • 1:00 PM–5:00 PM

  • 6:00 PM–8:00 PM

Tuesday, November 26, 2024:

  • 9:00 AM–12:00 PM

To make the most of your time, we suggest allowing enough time between conferences to comfortably get from one meeting to the next. This way, you can have meaningful conversations without feeling rushed.

📵 Electronics Policy Reminder

At Sheldon, we’re committed to creating a learning environment free from distractions, and our cell phone policy plays a big role in making that happen.

Key Highlights of the Policy:

  • Phones should remain off and out of sight during class unless a teacher permits their use for specific instructional purposes.

  • Students with accommodations for electronic devices will follow their individual plans.

  • Phones may be used responsibly between classes, at lunch, and before/after school.

  • In case of an emergency, families can contact the Main Office for a “Phone Use Day” pass.

We’re working to create phone-free classrooms, giving students the chance to fully engage with their learning. Some families have even opted to leave phones at home to avoid the temptation altogether. We appreciate your partnership in helping your student thrive at Sheldon High School!

Thank you for your ongoing support. We can’t wait to see you at the upcoming conferences and continue working together to make this school year amazing!

Respectfully,

Mike Ingman
