What is a Hispanic Serving Institution?
A Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) is defined as an institution of higher education that is an eligible institution; and has an enrollment of undergraduate full-time equivalent students that is at least 25 percent Hispanic students at the end of the award year immediately preceding the date of application.
What is the importance of HSI’s in Higher Education?
Hispanic Serving Institutes recognize the importance of serving the country’s rapidly growing Hispanic community. HSI’s were created to expand the educational opportunities for Hispanic students while improving their measures of academic attainment.
