Sheldon High School Updates

Posted Date: 9/20/24 (6:00 PM)

Students and Families,

I’m thrilled that the school year is off to a great start and that we’ve had the opportunity to see all of our students back in school. With the new school year come new transitions, and we want to ensure both students and families have the information they need for a successful year.

One area that some students and families have found challenging is adjusting to the new alternating A/B day schedule. We alternate between A and B days throughout the week, and our schedule is further impacted by early release on Wednesdays. As a result, class periods vary in length, which we have indicated with blue and rose colors on the schedule. Additionally, on September 26, we will have an advisory period, which will make the classes on that day shorter than they are on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.

As we near the end of the second week of the trimester, please note that teacher gradebooks will be updated by 4:00 PM today. You can check your student’s grades through Canvas. Staying informed helps both students and parents stay engaged and on track.

Starting next week, we will begin emailing grade reports to families every three weeks. This initiative is designed to strengthen the partnership between parents and teachers by encouraging consistent completion of student work.

Below are the grade report dates for the 1st semester:

  • Week 3 (9/23): Grades Emailed
  • Week 6 (10/14): Grades Emailed
  • Week 9 (11/8): Mid-Term Grades Due, Mailed After
  • Week 12 (12/9): Grades Emailed
  • Week 15 (1/13): Grades Emailed
  • Week 18 (1/31): Final Grades Due, Mailed After

Our LifeTouch picture days were a success. The school pictures are now ready for you to order. Log in to your account on mylifetouch.com or create an account using your student’s ID number. Plan for picture retakes on Wednesday, October 23 in the Cafeteria.

We appreciate your attention to these updates and look forward to continuing to support your student’s success.

Respectfully,

Mike Ingman
