The Sheldon High School “Irish Nation Newsletter” goes home every other Friday and is one of the best ways to share our exciting and upcoming events and school information with our Sheldon families and students. SHELDON BUILDING INFORMATION – As a reminder, Sheldon High School is not open to the public. Staff is in the building between the hours of 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and staff are checking both email and phone lines to respond to questions. NEW STAFF – Kay Graham is the new assistant principal at Sheldon High School, replacing Mark Watson who moved to Cal Young. Ms. Graham is returning to 4J. She served at North Eugene High School for several years as an assistant principal/small school principal before working for a decade in Lowell and Cottage Grove as a high school, secondary school and K–12 principal. She previously taught high school science for 15 years in Mapleton and Philomath. She brings to her new role a wealth of knowledge and experience as well as a commitment to learning at high levels for all students at Sheldon


SCHEDULING – Students have until October 12th to complete the drop process and have no mark on their transcript for a dropped Term 1 class. Students who return completed drop forms on Tuesday, October 13th or later will have a mark on their transcript with a WD (Withdraw- if dropping with a passing grade) or WF (Withdraw/Fail if dropping with a failing grade).

COMMUNITY RESPONDER – A Sheldon Community Responder is a volunteer that responds to “alerts” sent by the 15th Night Coordinator at Sheldon High School for needs specific to Sheldon High School students that have not been met by internal school resources. These type of alerts would be for items such as clothing, shoes, small household items, food or bedding. A Sheldon High School Community Responder would receive a text message indicating a need. If the Responder can provide the need, they respond to the text message and work with the Sheldon High School Coordinator to secure and deliver the item. Please contact Trista Neuman at

ASB CLOTHING AND FOOD DRIVE – Any of the food items mentioned above, along with clothing donations, are welcome during the “ASB Drive Thru Food/Clothing Drive” Monday, 9/28 through Friday, 10/2 in front of Sheldon between 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Students dropping off items will receive a Sheldon t-shirt! YEARBOOK – Welcome to the Sheldon Shamrock Yearbook! We aspire to create a remarkable yearbook for a most unusual school year. With our journalism students in Yearbook working remotely from home, we need your help and contribution to make this yearbook project possible. This yearbook will be story driven. Our student journalists want to interview as many of you as we can during the course of the school year. Do you have a story to tell? Do you have some photographs that you would like to contribute? EUGENE PUBLIC LIBRARY CARDS / Sign Up Now – Thanks to a new partnership between the Eugene School District 4J and the Eugene Public Library, all 4J students may get a library card. The registration form was mailed home as an insert in the school calendar. Please mail in the signed form (postage is prepaid) and a library card will be sent to you. This will give students access to all of the library’s physical holdings (books, dvds, cds, video games, etc.) as well as full digital access to ebooks, audiobooks, and database information. You may also sign up for digital access only by calling the public library at 541-682-5450.

SHELDON CLUBS – Clubs are a wonderful way for students to connect to school and to peers who share like interests. These kinds of opportunities support student social emotional growth provide extensions for learning and are just plain fun. During comprehensive distance learning, our clubs will continue to meet virtually. We encourage your student to explore the many clubs and organizations.
