In an effort to make the school more inclusive by meeting the basic needs of all of our students, Sheldon High School has added another layer. We will now have a washer and dryer that are available for students to do their laundry. The washer and dryer can be found off of the Career Center and right next door to the Athletic Director’s office. In order to use the washer and dryer we ask any student to find an adult in the Career Center and they will help you learn about and use the washer and dryer. We hope that this service will be used by our students and make school a better place.
You may have noticed that there are signs up around campus with the #SHELDONEQUITY. These signs have been made by Sheldon students that want ALL students to be treated with dignity and respect. The pictures show some of the staff and students that want to take a stand against degrading words and actions that happen on a high school campus. We want to unite and let people know that racist, homophobic, and sexist comments are not part of the culture here at Sheldon High School. How can you be involved? First, let people around you know that these kinds of comments are not acceptable at Sheldon High School. Second, you can join in and have your picture taken while holding a sign? The signs, including both premade and the materials to make your own are in the library. Please go into the library throughout the day and the staff can help you to become part of this movement. We will be posting new pictures throughout the week. Come be a part of the movement! There will be a Short Team meeting for all students interested in the upcoming Track & Field season on Thursday February 20th at lunch time in the Lecture Hall, room C-9. Track & Field is open to all students at Sheldon-a great sport to make get in shape, be on a team, represent Sheldon & make new friends. Come to the meeting and learn more about Track & Field.
This weekend Sophomore Gavyn Tatge competed in the 500 free race at the district swim meet in Eugene and not only took first place in the race, but broke a Sheldon High School Swim record that has been held since 1976 with a time of 4:40.77 Congratulations Gavyn!!!
The Sheldon Interact Club is holding a toiletries drive! Donate items such as unopened toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotion, hairbrushes, and Chapstick to the bin outside the front office. These items will be donated to Looking Glass services–an organization that benefits homeless youth in our community. Thank you for your support!
